Air Access to Northwest Florida Airport on Track for 2009
Northwest Florida is looking forward to showing off its new international airport in late 2009. Group access to the area is currently available through the Bay County Airport in Panama City and Okaloosa Regional Airport near Destin. The 4,000-acre Panama City-Bay County International Airport is expected to provide more convenient air access to the communities along the Gulf Coast.
On Pensacola's pristine beaches, tucked in Florida's northwest corner, small to mid-size groups can find a fit among hotels, resorts and the Pensacola Civic Center. The city is home to one of the world's largest aviation museums, a historic downtown and a thriving arts community.
Destin-Fort Walton Beach, Beaches of South Walton, Panama City Beach and Pensacola share spectacular Gulf beaches with sand as white as sugar. Group accommodations, championship golf, world-class spas and interesting off-site venues are found throughout these coastal communities.
Just to the east, the Destin-Fort Walton Beach-Okaloosa Island area is known as the Emerald Coast because its 24 miles of beaches are fringed by emerald-green waters. With world-renowned fishing, golf, tennis and shopping, this area welcomes mid-size to large groups, with the Emerald Coast Conference Center as its centerpiece.
Beaches of South Walton is home to resorts that cater to large conferences, as well as mid-size and boutique hotels that accommodate smaller groups. This area includes 12 communities, known for their unique architecture and idyllic beaches.
Panama City Beach has come forward as a meetings destination with two new resorts and newly renovated existing resorts. This community offers a host of recreation, teambuilding and entertainment options. |
