TradeWinds Resorts Receive Two Palms
Answering the call of meeting professionals who wish to support properties with "green" business practices, TradeWinds Island Grand Resort and TradeWinds Sandpiper Suites in St. Pete Beach have pursued and received the Florida Green Lodging Program "Two Palm" designation. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has recognized these properties as the second and third in the state to achieve this designation and the first on Florida's west coast.

To receive the Two Palm designation, hotels must maintain the green practices established during One Palm designation for at least 12 consecutive months. In addition, facilities must have developed and implemented performance improvement goals and evaluated their progress. The highest level of designation is the Three Palm designation, which occurs after a property has maintained Two Palm status and demonstrated continual improvement for three consecutive years.

"We

take pride in being the first resorts in the region and only the second and third in Florida to achieve this prestigious designation," said Tim Bogott, president and CEO of TradeWinds Island Resorts. "It is only through the continued commitment and hard work of the TradeWinds Green Team that we're making these significant improvements."

TradeWinds Island Resorts includes the AAA Four Diamond-Rated TradeWinds Island Grand and sister property, TradeWinds Sandpiper Suites. Located 30 minutes west of Tampa on 23 tropical acres overlooking white-sand beaches and Gulf of Mexico shores, the resort features a combined total of 744 guest rooms and over 68,000 square feet of meeting and exhibit space.

TradeWinds Island Resorts are located in the St. Petersburg/Clearwater area
